Are Flock cameras turning everyday police work into a nationwide stalking network?
Everybody is screaming about AI data centers. This video is about the surveillance system already on your street. Five Indianapolis police officers were charged after abusing Flock automatic license plate readers to track women, exes, and private citizens. One 18-year veteran used hundreds of Flock ALPR cameras to stalk multiple women, including his ex-wife and a woman he met at a workout class. This is not one department. Franklin County, North Carolina fired a detective for tracking every movement of a single private citizen. Chicago-area cops were already busted in August. The Institute for Justice has logged at least 244 police abuse cases as Flock’s network swells past 140,000 cameras across the United States.
If you watch cop accountability videos, Flock Safety exposés, license plate reader news, 1%er biker content, or anything on police misconduct and mass surveillance, this is the story that should be in your feed. Flock ALPRs read plates the second a cruiser pulls behind you. Officers have used that data to stalk romantic interests, retaliate against critics, run unauthorized searches, monitor activists, harass coworkers, and even locate domestic-abuse victims for the wrong reasons. The Electronic Frontier Foundation says abuse of automated license plate readers has existed almost as long as the cameras have. The difference now is scale. The cameras are networked across state lines.
This is not a “few bad apples” story. It is a systematic Flock camera abuse problem, and city officials acting shocked in an election year does not shut the network off. Bikers, club officers, and anybody who still thinks “just don’t break the law” is a plan need to hear this. Phones and street cameras already ended the old days. Flock made it searchable.
